For the past two weeks, I've been studying/memorizing proofreading symbols. My soul, talk about confusing! Well, yesterday they started to make sense. It's like the scene in a movie when the foreign language letters are displayed in the air, above the character's head, and then they start moving and translate into something the audience understands. That's almost exactly what happened for me.
Thank goodness, there's only five pages of them for me to memorize right now. However, apparently, somewhere out 'there', there is a book - a big book - full of proofing and copy editor symbols. I'm sure I'll have to break down and buy it at some point, but not for a while.
Today, I'll be getting more comfortable with my proofing symbols as I experiment with them, proofing the first page and a half of my prequel. And, to be honest, I'm going to enjoy this!
Goal for now: study.
