Cats are funny creatures. I love mine, but that doesn't exempt them from being puppets to their instincts. I'd used those same instincts to get back my side of the bed last night.
Back story: a couple months ago, my little fella, Yale, started sleeping at my feet. This I hate for two reasons. 1. I can't move. 2. I could hurt him. Nothing I did would make him give up that space to go to the other side of the bed. I could understand if the bed were a single or twin. It's not. It's a queen. That means there is plenty of space on the 'other side'.
However, last night, the solution struck me. Why hadn't I thought of it before?
Have you ever noticed if you have books or papers on a chair or sofa that cats love to sit and sleep on them? Can be annoying -- especially if they're very important papers and books, like manuscripts or library.
But last night I capitalized on the 'power of paper'. I'd ripped two sheets out of my notebook and placed them strategically on my bed, one sheet went where my girl cat sleeps, the other where I want my little fella to sleep (at the foot on the other side of the bed). I had to give my little girl one of her own because if she noticed Yale had paper and she didn't she'd take the sheet intended for him just for spite and I'd be no further ahead with my plot. Strange how cats are like that.
Well, am happy to say it worked like a charm. Yale noticed the paper, but didn't settle down for the night until after I'd fallen asleep. Most likely he didn't want me to see that I'd 'won a victory'. Funny cats.
Goal for now: the edits continue
