A Hero's Homecoming by Carlene Havel is a heartwarming story. Courageous Rich Martino comes home to discover friends and family believe he died in combat. Although his Air Force service record is heroic and outstanding, his personal life is chaos. Multiple ex-wives, an ill father, and children he hasn't seen in years are a few reasons for disaster on the home front--besides the fact, of course, that he is supposed to be dead. Then he meets Charlotte. Charlotte has a bit of baggage herself, but she has managed to work through hers. Will Rich? This story is set in Texas, and it is a Christian romance. You can read it in public without fear of blushing. I thoroughly enjoyed it. We need more writers like Carlene Havel.

When atheist Rich Martino meets devout Christian Charlotte Phillips, sparks fly. He suspects she's out to gain control of his father's money. She thinks he's crude and uncouth. Along the way, he learns to trust both Charlotte and God, and in so doing, finds once more, everything he thought he had lost. Charlotte comes to know
A Hero's Homecoming that first impressions can be deceiving and is able to unload much of the baggage she's been carrying around for years. The book is well-written, the plot is easily followed, and the characters are flawed and loveable. all in all, this is a most enjoyable read.
