This is the classic story of a romance between two unlikely lovers, Rachel and Jim. They meet in a local supermarket under Kismet-style conditions, but are soon challenged by a multitude of obstacles on the bumpy road to marriage. Anyone who has survived second-time-around dating scenarios will appreciate this charming tale. Hurrah for the woman with the less-than-perfect face and and figure who, in the end, wins the heart of the handsome man. Thank you, Bonnie McCune, for an entertaining read.

This is a delightful book. Rachael is so much like a lot of us women, and tries too hard at times, but in the end, she prevails.Jim is a typical male, always thinks he knows, until the truth hits him in the face.
I enjoyed the scene where Jim's apology gets misunderstood by Rachael.
Bonnie McCune is a wonderful author

Rachel and Jim meet at the market, where they have the same outraged reaction to the high cost of apples($2.99 a pound?!)Home-maker challenged Rachel and never-settle-for-less-than-perfection Jim are initially drawn to each other, until Jim sees
Rachel for who she is--a real woman with real curves living an unscripted life. Enter Donna: the Barbie to his Ken.
If Jim doesn't get over his need for perfection, the best woman will get away.
Award winning author, Ms. McCune serves up a Valentine's treat with Heart-Strong, equal parts sweet tarts dialogue and melted chocolate situations.
I enjoyed Ms. McCune's unique and edgy writing style, nothing predictable there in Heart-Strong.
I have to say my favorite scene involved Jim sending a text message apology to Rachel, but instead of clarifying things
his texting style and Rachel's off-the-mark interpretations add fuel to the fire.
Heart-Strong is highly recommended for any time of the year, but especially February 14th.
A perfect Valentine story, February 12, 2013

This captivating story with near misses and almost lost chances finds Jim Landers and Rachel Kinsey in a chance meeting at the market. They don't exchange names and there is no way to find each other again. After their brief meeting, the couple is brought together by her son's soccer team. Jim finally meets Rachel when he brings her son, Scott, home with an injury.
Jim isn't ready for a ready-made family and she's afraid he's just another in a series of less than worthy men she seems to encounter.
Jim and Rachel are attracted to each other but there are other people in their lives. Jim dates Donna, another seemingly perfect soccer mom, but all the while thinks of the ditzy unorganized Rachel. She doesn't fit the bill of a perfect woman. Rachel is overweight, isn't efficient and klutzy but she's a great mom and she does get things done but her mouth - runs constantly. To say the least she's head strong.
Rachel is dating the soccer coach but it isn't the relationship she wants and she thinks of Jim constantly, tall, dark, handsome but noncommittal.
Through a series of misunderstandings and with a little help from Rachel's sister, Sharon, the couple work toward an understanding of what they really want in life is each other.
Ms. McCune's witty way with words makes this a delightful story. Jim and Rachel's attempts to see each other again at the supermarket and the misunderstood text messages are the highlight of the story. Kudos, Bonnie.
