Win free books at Heart's Haven

Photo: Here is our first excerpt:

Tomas positioned himself on a cloud above Laney’s home and kept vigilance from his outpost. He predicted the Evil One would do nothing tonight, but the Superiors instructed guardians to stay prepared.
“Tomas?” He heard a delicate call—a female’s voice below his vaporous home.
“Sarah!” Lowering his head and peeking through the frothy mist, he peeled back layers of night and finally saw a tiny form quivering between heaven and earth. “Come on up.”
Turning on a soft, body glow to illumine the space, Tomas narrowed his eyes and inspected the junior angel. With long, blonde curls askew, a smudge on her face, and drooping wings, the underling appeared frazzled in her dirty and torn robe.
“Where have you been?” Tomas made sure his troubled speech bounded with warmth.
“I got lost.” Sarah sniffed
“Well, don’t cry. You’re here, now. Nothing major has happened with our charges.”
“I accidentally went to Dallas.”
“You went to Dallas?” With eyebrows raised, Tomas’ tenor ascended with disbelief.
Sarah wiped her nose on her long, white sleeve. “I followed an airplane to Houston, but once I arrived, I couldn’t find you.”
Tomas rolled his eyes. “Why didn’t you come down with me when I left The Heavenlies?”
“I should have, but I couldn’t wait to get here.”
Tomas shook his head. Novice angels. Would they ever learn?
