A candid writing moment with Victoria Pitts-Caine

"Several years ago, I was encouraged to join a writing group. It was an interesting mixture of people wiring all types of genres. Early on, I sat by a woman who had published a fantasy story with dragons, etc. She went on to tell how she wrote a scene and talked to the heroine and they talked their way through what happened. I thought I stepped into the twilight zone and I think I actually slid my chair over away from the woman.
I'm sure you've figured out by now, twelve years later, that my characters and I have a heart to heart most of the time. In Like A Lily, Susan's anxiety to start a relationship with the new minister leads her to make an assumption that their first date is not what she thought it was. While I wrote that scene, I sat in the car with Susan, looked across the parking lot, and let her react in a way that we, Susan and I, thought would justify her actions." author, Victoria Pitts-Caine

She decided long ago to be called Susan, not exactly the name her parents had given her, but the one she’d chosen...

When she first opens her dream shop, Susie’s Flowers, on a cold February morning, a new chapter in her life begins. She doesn’t anticipate it will include meeting the most eligible bachelor in tiny Winton Springs.

Then Ben Turner, the new minister at North Point, walks into Susan’s shop to order flowers for the Easter service, and decides to ask her for help. He needs to find an apartment and a volunteer for the missions committee.

She assumes he wants friendship. He’ll take that, for now, but when he discovers her real name, things change...

Will their friendship be enough for her, too, or will she break her vow not give her heart away a second time?

M. Ball says: "...guaranteed to make you smile."
