GETTING READY FOR THE BIG PITCH

On July 17th I will begin accepting pitches, and I will continue to accept them until Friday, July 19th at 5 P.M. EST. Please direct your pitches to my email – pmowery@prismbookgroup.com

What types of manuscripts will I accept?

If you’ve stopped by the submissions page at Prism, you will notice that I accept romances of all sub-genres. I do like for the story to have a Christian message at its core. I will not turn down a well-written women’s fiction either.

How do I want to receive your pitch?

Please include two things: a one sheet and the first chapter.

Create a one sheet with the working title of your manuscript at the top. Next, write a sentence or two to hook me. Some writers call this a tagline. Next, write a short blurb for your story. Under those sections, write a brief bio of yourself including any writing classes or organizations and links.

Here is an example from my published book:

THE BLESSING SEER

A pastor’s wife is prodded to step from her comfort zone to do something significant for God. But, will she follow through knowing her decision affects others?

When God sends Addy a special messenger who challenges her to step from her comfort zone, she isn’t sure she’s up to the job. She feels inadequate to take on the task of encouraging others, and when she starts seeing visions, she worries she’s losing her mind.

Yet, Addy wants only to be used by God, even it that means seeing visions and risking relationships with family and friends. By stepping out on a limb, can Addy really accomplish something significant for God? What affect will her surrender to His will have on those around her? And what affect will it have on her own life?

Paula Mowery has always been an avid reader of Christian fiction. She joined ACFW to learn more about writing in this genre. She began her publication journey by writing an article for a national magazine who later published her feature article. Paula maintains a blog (www.paulamowery.blogspot.com) and writes for an online Christian magazine (www.christianonlinemagazine.com). She continues to hone her writing skills by taking courses through ACFW, studying writing craft books, and reading Christian literature.

Please attach this one-sheet and your first chapter to an email addressed to me – Paula. In the body of the email, write a short letter naming what you are sending. It can be as simple as:

Dear Paula,

Attached you will find a one-sheet and first chapter for THE BLESSING SEER. This is a completed manuscript of approximately 25,000 words.

On July 31st, I will announce the top three chosen from all submissions. Those three will be asked to submit full manuscripts.
