5. Encourage orchard growers and commercial farmers to allow beekeepers to place hives on their land. Rather than moving migratory bees around the country, spreading disease and creating malnourished bees, almond growers and other farmers could take a portion of their land and plant bee-friendly flowers and plants. This will enable bees to live, and feed, year-round in the very orchards and fields in which they are needed for pollination. Local beekeepers might provide the bees, maintain the beehives, and collect the honey. Seems a viable solution, except for those who make their livelihood with migratory bees, that is. However, if we continue to raise bees the way we have been, soon there will be no bees left to argue over, and little fresh produce as well. You've heard the saying that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result . . .
