It's really not.
Guess who benefits when you make sure you eat healthy, you get enough sleep, rest, exercise, and fresh air and sunshine? You, your spouse, your children, your pets, even your neighbors/co-workers.
You're in a better frame of mind, have more energy, your mood is elevated, and you have a positive outlook. It might sound impossible given the issues surrounding us in the world, but when you minimize the focal point to your personal space, you won't be as overwhelmed.
I understand that we can't stick our heads in the sand, it makes us vulnerable. But we also can't feast on negativity. It impacts our mental and physical health and ultimately those around us. So be "selfish" and make a positive impact in your environment.
