What Revisions Teach
by Linda Carroll-Bradd
For the better part of Sunday and all of yesterday, I dove into my upcoming release, Rekindled Dreams, from Entranced Publishing and addressed the requested changes presented by my editor. So that I can more effectively discuss this topic, I'm stepping back into the collective "we" and address my comments like at least one other author share the same sentiments. (Please don't let me be the only one who has this experience.)
When we submit a manuscript, we like to think we are sending off our best work. We've slaved over the structure, made sure the characters grow and change, and work together to overcome a problem that initially kept them apart. Emotions are shown and only a small portion of telling exists.
Then the revision letter or edited manuscript arrives and are we surprised!
